IMO, the quality depth of the SEC warrants bids for them
Both UGA and Auburn have RPI and Massey rankings that are deserving of a bid, and both have very solid wins. Will give you that the conference record leaves a lot to be desired, but it pains me to say that I think the conference is *that* deep. There have been a couple times recently that ALL 13 teams have made it. And not that this should matter - every season is its own - performance in the tournament justifies the decision as well.
And if 12 of 13 is too many, then you have to put a cap on them, and that'd be arbitrary. I suppose you could want a >.500 conf record.
